We spent three nights in Castello di Cisterna and it was quite magical. Antonio is a true gentleman and his vision and care of the castello is evident everywhere you look. It really was like stepping back in time but with modern amenities ! To have a fire in our kitchen fireplace on a chilly evening while we made dinner was the perfect way to spend an evening. The view from the grounds is amazing and it is a very relaxing place to be- I only wish it had been warmer so we could have enjoyed the pool! We can’t wait to go back

Hidden beauty. Fantastic find.

This is a rare find; a 13th century castello, lovingly restored and converted into comfortable and atmospheric apartments. There are magnificent views across Umbria. You are within reach of Spoleto and Foligno. Only problem; finding it. I strongly suggest that anyone booking it should make sure they get a precise map, because it is in the middle of nowhere. Worse, the map given on the hotels.com page puts it in the wrong place, (there's a cemetery there instead) which cost me 45 minutes of looking for something that wasn't there, but 5 miles up the road. I'd have been furious, but when I got there it was so lovely, (the people, too), I forgot everything.
