"Hotel UMASS was a wonderful experience. Everyone and everything was perfect. I appreciated the gluten-free items provided for breakfast and the diligence of the employees in making sure that the area was safe. It was exciting being there during the students' return, even though that was not my purpose in being there. I highly recommend this accommodation."
"Really neat old hotel right downtown. Accommodations were simple and clean. If you don’t like old buildings with an old fashioned vibe, this might not be your favorite. But if you like quirky atmosphere and funky art deco urban spaces this is your spot. Old
Windows, basic fixtures, and I loved every bit of it. "
"Nothing bad about inside the room (108) -- but it was next to the hallway to the stairs to the second floor, so heard occasional foot-stomps during the evening. No other noises, though.
Spatious double sinks, very unusual. Huge, firm bed.
The manager has quite the beautiful flowers and vegetables garden as landscaping, including some exotic trees. Obviously this will vary by season, but Coreopsis verticillata (yellow/orange/red) was in full glory, with Cosmos coming on, among other things. Also look for curry-leaf tree (Murraya koenigii)."
"This rate was very good. Room was clean, bed was soft. There was path through the Nextdoor tree line to walk to the Dunkin Doughnuts/Circle K/Subway which was super convenient. Across the street there was an authentic Mexican food truck with awesome Burria tacos stationed at the Cheech and Chong dispensary. Yankee candle was on the opposite side of the building and Tree House Brewing was 1.5 miles away (surprisingly best pizza in W Mass!)
The only negative thing of note was that the ac unit was loud when the compressor turns on and needed to have the filter cleaned by pulling it and running it under water (which I did) but I explained to the staff how to do that and they said they would include it in the monthly maintenance schedule. I had cool weather during my stay so I was able to simply open the window and get fresh air. I recommend a room on the front side of the building vs the rear so you don’t have the I-91 car noise. I will be bringing my family here again."
