Cozy, warm, made us feel completely at home! Great breakfasts! Special little touches like fresh flowers in local gin bottles, wee dram of scotch, cookies and chocolate. Awesome bed! Nice, crisp white sheets, comfy white comforter and good pillows! Loved the decor and the red doors!
Would highly recommend. The bed and breakfast is beautiful. Our room was so cute, clean and very comfortable. Breakfast was amazing (the best scrambled eggs). The host Isla is so friendly and helpful. We wished we stayed another night.
If you book through hotels.com disregard the check in process instructions - you do not need to call the B&B ahead of time, simply arrive during checkin hours and ring the bell in the reception area.
My daughter & I stayed here 2 days in the middle of our trip to Scotland & Ireland. It was intended to be 2 relaxing days, and they were. The B&B is perfectly situated one street off the main road running through Grantown-On-Spey, so it's off the beaten path but only a minute's walk from the downtown area, which is small and quaint.
Many of the businesses didn't take credit cards, so bring cash if you want to eat out and shop. It rained hard much of our two days there (imagine, rain in Scotland :) ), so we didn't get to go out and look at much of the natural beauty that's in the area. It's only an hour from Loch Ness by car, so we went to Urquhart Castle (and it wasn't raining there).
The Scottish breakfast was excellent. If you've never had haggis, this is the time to try it. It was free and actually not bad.
The owners were very kind and helpful. My daughter & I thoroughly enjoyed our time there.
Beautiful b&b ,
With loads of little extras that make it soo special ( chocolate/ eye mask / homemade shortbread/ slippers/ dressing gown / toiletries, to name a few)
Breakfast was freshly cooked each morning and was great with a good choice
Isla was lovely and bubbly and if she could help with anything she would!!
Would recommend to anyone and will definitely be back myself ❤️
What an excellent place this place is! Can't praise it enough. The bedroom and bathroom were huge: 4 poster bed, super modern bathroom. Numerous little extras made it all the better: bathrobes, slippers, bath salts, eye mask, fresh shortbread, milk, fridge, etc. The breakfasts were exceptional and delicious: the Full Scottish alone has tons of everything - including award winning haggis and black pudding - and I challenge anyone to eat it all in one go! Also they serve a daily scrumptious pin head (steel cut) porridge served with a changing variety of toppings. Every day they offered an alternative to the Full Scottish: our three days were BLT, french toast, and eggs Benedict. Host Isla was super helpful throughout - providing anything we needed: even champagne flutes! We used the Strathallan as a base for three days of hiking in the Cairngorms which are a comfortable half hour drive away. The generous and separate guest's lounge was a welcome rest for tired feet. The one downside (no fault of the host) is that there is NOWHERE decent to eat in Grantown apart from possibly the Garth Hotel Restaurant. I told Isla I wish she would cook dinners. This was easily one of the three best B&Bs we have ever stayed in - and we have stayed in A LOT of posh / boutique ones in 20 years of travelling (the other two being in the Blue Mountains, Australia and Saltspring Island, British Columbia - also all booked through Hotels.com - and for the record, I'm not a Hotels.com stooge!).
We absolutely loved our stay at Strathallan B&B. Our host was charming and welcoming, the room we had was beautiful, the bed comfy, and the bathroom perfect. Cooked breakfast was of the highest quality and one of the best we have ever had.
I would highly recommend a stay here.
Clean, well-equipped, well located, very nice sitting room too. Isla and her family are in the right business - provided great, friendly hospitality. One of our favourite places in our four-week itinerary!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Strathallan House. Isla and Spencer were wonderful hosts and we wanted for nothing during our stay. You can tell as soon as you walk in the high level of care and attention to detail that goes into everything they do. Our room was so clean and cosy with an incredibly comfortable bed. We're already missing the daily 'Fancy Porridge' and 'Breakfast Special' options. It is without a doubt the best B&B we've stayed in and all future B&B's will be compared with it!
