Granna is not only a gorgeous town where outdoor adventures await you, it is also the home of the delicious candy rock.

The idyllic town Granna is full of red wooden houses surrounded by well-kept gardens. Travellers come from far and wide learn about the area's rich cultural heritage. Take your family on a journey back in time and see the castle ruins at Brahehus, or spend a day at Visingso Island.

Amble along Granna's main road, Brahegatan and revel in the unique cross between the old and the new world. You will find lots of trendy boutiques next to charming craft shops. Seize the opportunity to visit Granna Church and Granna Museum if you want to step further back in time. Modern attractions in the area include the Moped and Motorcycle Museum.

Visingso Island is often mentioned in the same breath as Granna, and it is only a short boat trip away. If you want a truly unforgettable weekend trip to Granna, this is the place to go. On Visingso Island you can explore one of Sweden's largest oak forests and enchanted walking trails. The castle ruins of Visingsborg and Nas Borg are other historic attractions.

When you travel to Granna it is mandatory to enjoy what the city is most famous for: sweets. The Swedish style candy rock was invented in 1859 in Granna, traditionally made with a peppermint flavour and characteristic red and white stripes. Most Swedish people have a sweet tooth and these candy rocks are known to locals as 'polkagrisar'. For a sweet experience, visit Polkapojkarna, Franssons Polkagristillverkning or Grenna Polkagriskokeri where they offer tasters.

Granna is half an hour north of Jonkoping by car. If you travel from one of Sweden's big cities, you can take the train to Jonkoping Centralstation and connect to a local bus.

If you fancy a candied experience, Granna is the destination for you. Visit for a weekend or treat your family to a longer holiday in Granna.

Lovely old fashioned hotel. Staff were very helpful and the breakfast was good There was no lift but the staff did carry the bags up stairs. Only small negative was there were too many dos and don’ts notices in the room.
