Grand Strand hotel rooms a the Independent

"Paid extra for a sea view, it seemed that the better rooms with a proper sea view and higher floors required an upgrade when you check in, which they kept pushing. Most of the pools were closed or dirty. The hotel is on the flight path. We had a junior suite and this has a window to a corridor, so anyone walking past looks in at the bed. Then you also have to pay extra for parking, resort fees and tax, so will have to add $60 per night to the hotel cost. "

"By far the best hotel Myrtle Beach has to offer, which is kind of sad considering it's a major tourist destination with 100's of hotels. All-inclusive resort with amazing pools, tannings spots, spa, hot tubs, restaurants, and private beach access. The front desk and hotel staff were not particularly welcoming, friendly, or hospitable, but the hot attentive pool boy and experienced female bar tenders made up for it. Rooms are dated, but extremely comfortable. This is a true resort: you can fly into MYR, uber to the hotel, and not leave the compound for your entire stay. I actually would advise NOT to venture out into the wasteland that is known as "dirty Myrtle." Heed my advice, you'll have am much better vacation. "

"The photos for the standard room do not clearly show the exterior of the building. The hotel actually has three separate buildings. We stayed in the Jamaican building, which is not the tall blue building—it’s a smaller building located next to the restaurant. To access the main building, where the indoor pools are located, you have to walk behind the restaurant or use the sidewalk."

"This hotel was disgusting and completely unsanitary. We had to switch rooms twice because of dirt—used, stained towels and beds that clearly weren’t changed. Not a place for a baby at all. Staff was weird and unprofessional, and they only had one luggage cart, which is ridiculous. Worst experience ever. Do not stay here. I was so bothered that I did not enjoy my stay. It was very aggravating. I had to go to the local dollar store to buy cleaning things to clean my own room bleach it down."

"I cannot say enough good things about this hotel. The room was very clean, the staff were extremely friendly - from the front desk staff all the way to the grounds crew. I booked the package with breakfast coupons and the breakfast did not disappoint. The hotel had live music on Friday night and it was nice to hang out on the balcony and listen to the music. "

"The pools were nice. Room was pleasant and spacious. Cleanliness couldve been better and while out, someone came into the room and grabbed up all the dirty towels and washcloths but didn't make up any beds.? Breakfast was cool as well but in a different building than the hotel. The town itself needs to hurry up with those renovations. Overall, nice hotel and would stay again."
