"Seemed quite spartan. No tissues in the rooms, safes not bolted to the wall, dark hallways. However, outstanding pool, and the restaurant was cheap with excellent food."

"The staff was super friendly, rooms are clean and comfortable. We fished two days with a guide recommended by Banana bay staff. We caught a ton of fish and brought them back to be cooked in a variety of different ways. The locals are friendly the staff s friendly. We will be back soon"

"Beautiful rainforest property with good birding opportunity, birds song, cicadas, and frogs, but "touristy", so the natural vibe gets ruined. It seems they cater to tour groups, so not very private or queit. Have to pay for 3 meals a day but on their schedule that's too late for serious birding and not as healthy as I'd prefer. I travel solo and do not enjoy sitting by myself or wasting time I could be out finding birds sitting in a restaurant. I go ut birding before daybreak so, lunch as late...

"Playa Cativo Lodge is a wonderful place and the accommodations, food and staff were absolutely perfect. It was nice to be so close to the gulf which was calm, warm, sandy and perfect for swimming. My only complaint was that the entire front area of the lodge has been landscaped with grass and ornamental plants, many of which are not native. Because of this large open area few birds or animals come near the lodge. Bird watching was disappointing compared to lodges that have left the rainforest...
