"The hotel was new, clean, and comfortable, and the staff was generally fine. My only issue was a $6.50 parking charge. I did not have a car, and at check-in the clerk dropped the subject after I explained that. At checkout, however, I was told it was actually a “parking lot maintenance fee” charged to everyone and that they normally collect it through the card on file for incidentals.
The charge was ultimately waived after I challenged it, but the inconsistent explanation made it feel dishonest. If it is a mandatory property fee, it should be clearly disclosed during booking rather than presented as a parking charge."
