"Balmacara Hotel was one of the best properties we stayed at in Scotland. Wish we could have stayed longer than our 2 nights because our view was AMAZING! We had a breathtaking view of Loch Alsh, the mountains around it, and a very clean, spacious room. The staff was very friendly, and so helpful even assisting with our luggage. We were able to rest up after our scenic trip from Inverness to Kyle, then had a fantastic meal downstairs in their restaurant, with another beautiful view of the Loch and mountains. We enjoyed the Scottish White Crab Meat-locally sourced, Pumpkin & Sage Ravioli, Butter Greens with Grana Padano Cheese and Chocolate Clementine Tort. All the food was prepared fresh, served at proper temperatures and mouth-watering delicious. The restaurant deserves a fantastic separate review, as the food was impeccable and satisfying, served by Jeevan who was courteous, attentive and friendly, and the meal came without sticker shock from being overcharged. Breakfast was also good, offering a large variety, something for everyone. I especially loved the yogurt and muesli, coffee machine, fruits and pastries with variety of jams.
We LOVED everything about this hotel, even down to every detail, like how they saved us a parking spot on our 2nd night, knowing we were out late exploring Isle of Skye!
Words alone can not express how WONDERFUL this property location was, while the employees were so kind and helpful. We will visit here again!!"
"Parking was no problem, place was clean and tidy, No staff available to speak to only by phone if you have any issues, breakfast was simple no frills"
"Great location, staff were friendly. We did have to go into the restaurant to check in for our stay but was no problem at all and went ahead and made a dinner reservation in the restaurant while there. The restaurant was fantastic and everyone was so friendly. It is a busy restaurant tho, and parking was a little bit of an issue as hotel guests share a small parking lot with the restaurant guests. Area was super quiet. Wouldn’t necessarily consider it a “luxury” stay and it isn’t quite on the water as it may appear but we still thoroughly enjoyed it. Kitchen was equipped with everything you need. "
"Very old and tired hotel. Beds were hard, pillows were flat. Amenities were few.
Breakfast was good. But for the price you are paying, it was not good value."
