"We arrived slightly earlier but Derek had left the house key in door for us to let ourselves in. He called later to check everything was OK and showed us how to open the hottub lid . It was all ready to jump in and very warm. Cottage was modern and everything needed was provided, towels, bathrobes for hottub, cutlery and plates etc. Excellent front garden for playing football with our son. Overall couldn't fault it and had a relaxing stay."

Top Glasserton Hotel Reviews

Cally Palace Hotel & Golf Course

10/10 Excellent

"Set in extensive quiet grounds affording peace and quiet for your stay, whilst being only a 5 minute drive to the A75 for onward travel. My wife and I have been back to Cally Palace several times now and always find the experience enjoyable and relaxing. The hotel is a grand old building which we always find to be clean and comfortable with very friendly and welcoming staff. The rooms are always clean and comfortable. There is a small pool with a jacuzzi and sauna that we enjoy. Breakfast offers a wide variety and the cooked breakfast is a buffet which is kept regularly stocked so is hot and fresh. The restaurant overlooks the golf course and you can occasionally see deer grazing during your meal. We had an evening meal which was new for our stay on a German Oktoberfest theme which we thoroughly enjoyed. The surrounding area has plenty of cycling and walking and there are a couple of local distilleries which are worth a visit. This time round we timed our stay to coincide with the annual Wigtown Book Festival and managed to attend a few interesting talks, including the closing talk with Sam Heughan who incidentally owns the Galloway Distillery at Newton Stewart. We are always sorry to leave the area but are already planning our next trip."

The Ship Inn

10/10 Excellent

"When we arrived at the hotel it didn't look anything special from the outside. On entering into the small reception we received a very warm welcome and given some local information. We were directed to our room which was very spacious, clean and a nice outlook . The bed was very comfortable although I found the room warm but my husband slept right through the night, which is unusual for him. We opted to have dinner in the hotel and although a bit pricy we were very happy with what we ordered. A very pleasant stay and I would definitely return"
