"The cottage was gorgeous, in a lovely quiet location and parking at the back. It was spotlessly clean and beautifully decorated. We only stayed a night but it had almost everything you'd need for a stay. A bit of soap in the bathroom and teatowel/towel and washing up liquid in the kitchen with some milk for a cuppa when you arrive would have made it perfect. "Comfortable cosy stay in lovely, clean cottage which is dog friendly. Situated minutes from shops meaning you can easily get your essentials or grab a drink in a lovely pub. Nice location and suitable base to drive to other parts of the region. The cottage was clean and presented as described. WiFi was excellent throughout ( I know that’s required for some, but not us) Has a small back garden, which is gated and perfect for dogs to stretch their legs."

10/10 Excellent

"Lovely hotel with great views. The suite was extra comfortable and the roll top bath overlying the sea views really lovely. Breakfast was good. Room very clean. Staff all lovely. The upstairs dining room a little cramped with multiple people - this is personal preference though as I am sure others would like this."

"The nightly rate is reasonable but as they say you get what you pay for. The hotel in areas looks very tired. We had French windows but these were fastened shut- I guess because the little wood balcony wasn’t safe. The water was scalding hot. Some of the light bulbs were out. It was clean though. The spa is a good addition with its lovely Victorian tiles. The breakfast is comprehensive- cooked, continental but a bit bland. This was our third time at the Crown Spa and each time our room seems progressively worse/ tired in appearance. The location is great for getting to the beach and a short walk to the centre. It is obviously popular- especially with pensioners and coach trips. If you know you are not getting ‘luxury’ and want to use the spa facilities The Crown Spa is decent value. "

"This hotel was the worst one I have ever stayed in, I expect that it's an Old building, but the overall state of repair is shocking, when you exit the elevator to any floor you see white flakes of paint and wood at every opening, this I deduced was the wood work of the doorway, which was being battered by the wheeled baskets ,that is used for transporting the bed clothes and other parafenalia to and from the rooms, the windows were ill fitting and drafty the door was as if the norm was to prise it open with a screwdriver. The management should prioritise inspecting the place and ensuring that Old doesn't have to mean TATTY."

"This is our second visit to the hotel. We had a double room for three nights, that was showing slight signs of wear and tear. The room was very clear, although when I asked the lady who was cleaning our room for a toilet roll, she explained I would have to go to reception as she did have any. We also left towels in the bath to be replaced, they were folded up and put back on the side without being replaced. All the staff were very friendly, particularly the staff on reception. We ate breakfast at the golf course club house. It was very reasonably priced and delicious."

"The property is in need of a refurb as it is looking tired in places. Staff were helpful and polite. Outside seating was insuficient on this sunny weekend. Cooked breakfast was good but the continental (cheese & ham etc) was woefully poor. In the light of recent events the security was bad, entry to the rooms via lift and stairs was not controlled in any way so anyone could walk in off the street and have access. Location, location, location is the big plus for this hotel all in all a very enjoyable stay."
