Gateway Hotel and Conference Center at Iowa State University
There are nice updated rooms and it is quiet when I have been there. I don't go during football or basketball season. The restaurant had a buffet breakfast on Saturday morning. There is only one free breakfast per room, and we paid for a second one. Not really impressed with breakfast.

Sleep Inn & Suites Ames near ISU Campus
Breakfast was good and things were good overall but the AC was loud and floor was wet by it likely due to condensation.
