Franeker is a interesting litte town with a rich history. "downtown" you will find the the world's oldest functioning planetarium. It was build by Eise Eisinga in his living room, partly to prove the end of the world was not near at all. "Lovely brightly lit space, black out curtains overlooking a beautiful street. Though the room did not have a fridge it did have coffee and a well appointed room with a tv. Enjoyed my visit "

"Clean large room with terrace with a great seaview love come back here in the summer for walks and bike riding. Lovely area not been here for over 40 years since I left the Netherlands. Highly recommend this hotel for a longer stay, originally only booked for one night with booked another night straight away. Amazing for water sports.
