"Great authentic Norwegian ski cabin. We were amazed by the place's history and setting. I would not recommend it to anyone who is looking for a Holiday Inn-type place, but definitely to someone looking for an authentic Norwegian experience."

"Situated in a grand historic building facing the waterfront, with a multi-storey glass atrium and rustic bar that opened out into the gardens, this is clearly THE PLACE to stay in town. We enjoyed the dinner buffet upstairs at the Arven, particularly the fresh seafood selection, and a very generous breakfast spread the next morning. Our room was small and utilitarian, with a hiking trail a few yards behind the hotel building plainly visible from the widow, but noise was minimal in the evening, despite it being summer. There is left-luggage storage adjacent to the reception, which many people used to store bags while waiting for rooms to be made ready in the afternoon, or while waiting for onward transportation in the morning. Kudos to the staff: Despite it being high summer, and being slammed with cruise ship visitors and a whole batch of folks arriving on the same train as we had, the staff was cheerful and helpful, and got us all situated with amazing efficiency."

"I needed to sleep a night close to Flam and decided to take the touristic train and stay here on my way to Oslo. Beautiful hotel surrounded by mountains. Quiet, peaceful. Just beautiful. They have a restaurant which offered a delicious buffet. Very impressed. Definitely a spot for someone looking for tranquility. There is a trail too that can take you all the way to Flam. From here you can take the train to Myrdal station (1 stop only 3 minutes) and change trains to Oslo. Very easy!"

"This is a bed and breakfast style accommodation, not a 4-5star hotel. The rooms are compact yet comfortable and the staff very attentive. The half board option is excellent, and location just perfect."

"The location is wonderful as the hotel sits by the fjord. Our room has two balconies with great views! The breakfast is exceptionally good with a lot of variety of food. Staff is very helpful. He allows us to trade two complimentary local beer to two bottle water."

"Was a really lovely place to stay. Beautiful views really friendly and helpful staff. Very comfortable rooms. Would be very happy to spend more time there. Great location."

"The location was a bit of a ways away from the main hub/lake in Voss, maybe twenty five minutes, but that was no problem because of the stunning views the property, which is up on a mountain, afforded. The Stalheimskleivi Road, a steep path and hiking trail along a mountainside with views of waterfalls and greenery, is right behind the hotel, and it's quite the tourist attraction. The hiking going down was awesome. Coming back up took a lot of energy. lol. There are pastures with sheep nearby. We had a double room and it was no frills: no tv, no coffee machine, no microwave, just basically a bed and bathroom. The hotel is quite old and could use some renovations. You're basically paying for the awesome views and the relative seclusion. Oh, and the breakfast offered a nice variety-- sausage, bacon, eggs, paté, pastries, different breads. Their bar served us until 11pm, We only stayed for one night, so the no frills room was fine."
