Room was clean. We had all of the amenities we needed. Well stocked with toiletries. There was no staff present except for 1 or 2 housekeeping personnel.
Very unique hotel and was a good stay. Contactless check in was easy, just received a code for the main door and room. Hallways and rooms have tons of original character with exposed beams, floors, ceiling. Right next door to Outstate Brewing was a bonus!
This hotel is very cool with an industrial vibe. The rooms are very nice and clean. The only confusing thing would be checking in. This hotel uses a digital check-in process online. They do not have a front desk or anybody in person to help you. There is a phone number you can call by the front door if you have any questions during business hours.
The room was really neat and clean. I liked how the rooms were rustic looking and fit the uniqueness of the hotel. The manager we talked to was very friendly and helpful.
This boutique hotel is appointed with thick towels, high end beds and linen, and is really quite the statement of luxury, particularly for a small town like Fergus Falls. It's quite amazing, we've been coming here for years and have only had some tired hotel chains as options in the past, so the Mill is very welcome. The preservation of historic detail is quite something, and the 12-foot high ceilings (higher, maybe?) have to be experienced.
We were given a room on the 5th floor, overlooking the river. But this was actually a disappointment because the wonderful windows are maybe 3 feet above the floor, so you could only see the river when standing up and looking out. On other floors, the window appears to start much closer to the floor, which would provide a better view.
I only saw 1 person in the entire week we were there, and that was a member of the cleaning staff. There were potato chips on the floor, maybe because the floors themselves are original, and inherently uneven which are lovely but more care might have been taken to clean the room.
On the subject of cleaning rooms, there are no staff generally at the hotel, and by the third day our waste baskets were full, so I wrote an email to "info@" and got a quick response and our room was freshened. But it's not like a "regular hotel" in that regard, all rooms and even the main entrance is opened with a four-digit code.
Overall, great experience, and I would definitely stay at the Mill Hotel again if I'm in town.
