When people love what they do or what they own, you can see it and feel it in the details. I think that is how I can explain why we had a great time at the Astra, we appreciated all the amount of effort people working at the Astra has put-in making our stay so pleasant.
The food was amazing, the service was impeccable, we loved and used most of the facilities and we could feel that the owners really have done a good job to make the stay a great experience and not only "an accommodation". Tom is a great manager, super attentive, looking after all of his guests. Him and all the team made us feel at home.
The food at the restaurant has french influence, with a lot of detail put to every dish that is served. The waiters are efficient, attentive and affable. They have a very versatile and quality assortment of wines and liquors appropriate to match different customer palates or food ensembles.
The greats: Staff was friendly and welcoming! There’s complimentary shuttle from/to the ATS. The heated jet tub and pool relaxes your body after a day on the slopes. Food was good. Room was clean and warm. Located near the village.
The only bad: Soundproofing was rather bad. I could hear conversations and footsteps happening outside the room...
But overall, a very lovely stay!!
Amazing hotel, fantastic rooms, a little bit away from the chairlift but made up for by the transfer service. Most of the staff are amazing, management can seem a little disinterested in helping. Restaurant and bar area is brilliant. Cater well for children. Pool, spa, steam room make for the perfect end of the day.
The staff were very attentive. Stacey, Harry, and Asher, were fantastic! The restaurant had a good range of options, breakfast was great! The property was in a good location, and the transport offered back/forth was a bonus. Very happy. Will definitely be back.
Hope you want to hear your neighbours all the time
There are some good aspects to Astra such as the mineral pool and spa, ski access is good and storage for skis very convenient, however despite assurances this was a quiet hotel with soundproofing we heard every little thing our neighbours did. The room servicing got progressively worse to the point that on the last day the bed looked like it had been made by a person after a big night out (I took a picture). Room servicing was never done before 12 until I said something and then it was done but really haphazardly. We had some good interactions with staff but there is a very large amount that needs to improve to warrant the hype. Breakfast was pretty average.
Everything about Astra Lodge was fantastic, they were extremely hospitable and there was attention to every detail. Service, rooms, facilities, food and beverage was all great, oversaw service and the caring attitude which will make us come back. Great facilities
Unfortunately, the Astra Lodge is a pale shadow of its former self. It is advertised as a lodge where guests can relax in the lounge area with other guests during the day and after skiing, enjoy the dining room and the quiet ambience of a very comfortable lodge. Not so. It is now basically a public bar with accommodation. The lounge/bar is usually locked until the afternoon trade starts up with access for the public. Dining, even for breakfast, is off-site at a nearby restaurant/cafe. Very dissappointing and suggest that potential customers look elsewhere if requiring a "lodge" atmosphere.
