"I don't want to be mean because the staff were very helpful and pleasant but the room we stayed in was awful. It had a musty damp smell, dog (or cat) hair all over the bedding and more flies than I care to remember. The garden area was filthy and no nets on the window so if we opened the curtains (that didn't fully close) we would be seen by anyone outside. it was very cheap in price so I guess you get what you pay for.."

"The noise from the main road is unbearable The main road is literally facing the rooms especially if you’re in the room is closest to the road. It is like the trucks are coming through the middle of your room constantly all night. The property is also not very clean. It feels musty dirty and the towels are disgusting.
Not my ideal accommodation. I can tell you that as for the restaurant the grill is foul. I couldn’t even even eat one steak. It was covered in 2 inches of charcoal. The broccoli was soaked in of oil the food out onto my plate."
"I stayed for three nights in room 46. It was extremely disappointing. The room looked shabby and badly needed an update. The weather was cold and wet but there were no spare blankets available in the cupboards. No washing up liquid was provided for guests to wash their dishes. No side plates available. The bathroom was very poorly maintained. Both the the bath and the washbasin were badly stained and cracked and looked dirty. The wash basin in particular needs replacing. The towels did not look clean. My biggest complaint is that I was charged almost $800 for this. I assume the high price was because of the Generations in Jazz weekend in Mt. Gambier as I have just looked up the offer now and it is HALF that price for a three night stay. Because of the extremely poor facilities and the greatly overpriced charge I feel entitled to a refund. I will not recommend this to anyone and will not stay there again."
"Studio room was perfect for one person. Really nice and clean, with a comfortable bed and a great bathroom. Really nice staff and location, did not eat at the restaurant/bar but it also looked great! "
"The part that stood out was the location. The house was nestled in a grove of trees loaded with native birds. Lots of cockatoos greeted us every morning and evening! "
"Andy and Gretel have made the Customs house into an amazing place to stay. We stayed in the Policeman's apartment and on arrival realized right away that we'd made a mistake to book only one night - we should have booked several just for the experience of staying in this house longer! The house is directly across from the harbor inside the breakwater. Port McDonnell is small and quaint and a good base for exploring the Limestone Coast. Note that the bedrooms are upstairs and the bathroom on the main floor. "
