"I normally don’t leave reviews, but families deserve a heads-up before booking here.
My family and I booked a room at Suncoast Inn in Englewood, FL, and quickly realized the A/C in our room was not working properly. The room was hot and uncomfortable. When I went to the front desk to ask about switching rooms, the man working insisted the A/C was “fine” and refused to move us.
After going back and forth, he finally came to the room to check it himself and decided it was “cool enough for him.” We were basically told to deal with it. Instead of helping us or moving us to one of the multiple vacant rooms we saw available, he got an attitude and said he would rather refund our money than switch rooms.
So at 1:30 in the morning, we were forced to leave and scramble to find another hotel.
Things happen — A/C units break, I get that. But poor customer service and refusing a simple room switch when vacancies exist is what made this experience unacceptable"
"We stay here every year for our fishing trips. It’s super well run and I highly recommend it. The couple that manages the place are the nicest people."
"Arrived 05/15/26 at 7pm, went in to the office to check in and immediately could not breathe due to the amount of incense in the office. May have us the key, we immediately noticed it looked nothing like the pictures on Hotel.com. Took our stuff to the cottage and looked at the pool (there were only 2 chairs and the pool was cloudy and dirty). We brought food to grill out as it was advertised there was a grill. No grill, all we could find was a random broken treadmill sitting outside the cottage. We left to get food, when we came back at 9pm, we realized there was only 1 lamp in the room and 1 working light bulb in the ceiling light. The bed was broken and severely sunken in, could not sit on the couch as it had metal coming out of it, the toilet wouldn’t flush, the shower was moldy and dirty, the bolt lock did not work on the door, and we noticed a creepy trailer that was butted up to the bedroom windows. At this point, we didn’t feel safe or comfortable staying here so we left. I contacted Hotels.com the next day and was told I had to go through Grove City Motel to get a refund. Hotels.com contacted them and was told the manager was not there and they could not approve a refund. The manager has not returned any phone calls or emails. This is a scam and Hotels.com should also be responsible for not verifying a place before advertising them."
