Restaurant & bar onsite was a welcomed bonus after a looonnngggg day of driving and road construction. Outside lighting for rooms needed so we could find our room & safely unload. Luckily phones have flashlights.

This is a classic, old north-woods resort. The room was very clean, well equipped with new appliances, furniture, paint and flooring. The scenery is gorgeous and lots of places to hike. There are lots of families with dogs, good parking and Ely has fun things to do. Loved it!

Older gal who checked us in was rude and did not explain where our cabin was, check out instructions, or anything. Location of the resort was amazing. Also the terrain to get to our room was not maintained well and was very tricky and hard to get to get luggage to and from the car to the room.

Beautiful place right on Garden Lake with access to the Boundary Waters! The motel had comfortable beds and a basic kitchen. My son and I borrowed a canoe for the day and had a beautiful, long paddle to BWCA. We also visited the Wolf Center, hiked, and had a great tour of the Poineer Mine. A very peaceful spot to come home to on our vacation— we hope to return!

Nice lake views from rustic cabin.

The location is great, the views of the lake and free access to the dock was fantastic. The staff was very nice and dealt with the few issues we did run into quickly. The cabins have so much potential, but in their current state have rustic church camp vibes. The bathroom was comically ugly. I’d stay here again though. The price was fair and the location and staff were great. But I hope they remodel and make this place the gem I know it could be

Little disappointed

The check in person Deb was not a friendly person. Other staff were real friendly. The room was clean, beds comfortable. We booked our stay on line with Hotels.com, with 3 nights in King bed and one night in double bed. When we arrived we ended up with 3 nights in double bed. Deb said it didn’t show the kind of rooms booked through Hotels.com, and the internet doesn’t work so well in that area so I couldn’t pull up my information. The 4th night we got a king room.. the view was pretty of the lake and it was an awesome room. We should have had this for 3 nights not one!! The cleaning staff do an awesome job!!

I stayed in a motel room overlooking the lake prior to a trip into the Boundary Waters. A little nervous at the plain and aging exterior, I was pleasantly surprised with the renovated and very comfortable room. This property has a friendly, traditional resort vibe, with cabins, camper parking and the motel. The bar was still open on a rainy evening and they served my favorite Castle Danger on tap. I would love to visit this resort again!

There are extra property fees that are added on by silver Rapids Lodge that you are not made aware of through Expedia. The website has inaccurate descriptions of the property and the cabins.. there is no air-conditioning in any of the cabins despite what the website says. They exterior of the property and the dock area is way rundown.

Our sheets were wet/ very damp on the first night and we didn’t discover until it was too late and office closed. Told them in the morning. She said they would contact housekeeping. Went back hours later and the room/bed was not changed. Then we went back to the office and they handed us a bag of sheets to change ourselves. No apologies or oops, sorry that happened. Put us off. Bathroom door wouldn’t close. No crossbar in the closet to hang clothes. Has potential but could have been better. Cute fridge and microwave though!
