We stayed in Elkhart because we saw billboards for miles and miles touting how great Elkhart was. And..it's fine. There are a lot of restaurants. We didn't stay long enough to take in the culture.

Not a bad town, plenty of options for eating, gas, liquor, etc. Only was there for a brief visit.
"When I arrived there were two police cars arresting a guest and talking to the manager. People hanging out in the parking lot late at night. I'm a big guy with a dog so no personal safety concerns but felt a little sketchy."
