"What a contrast to my last hotel (Balmoral Lodge, Southport ). St Michael's was everything I want from a B&B and more. "Been to this hotel before, depending and enjoyed it, this time not as much, it's looking more tired. Old for me is fine as it gives character but there were some things that don't even meet a basic standard. Food and staff in the restaurant area were pleasant, not so much the reception staff who l feel we're unhelpful, inefficient doing their job. I had to move my room, l complained about not getting an answer on the phone to make a direct booking which is what they encourage, l e mailed reception more than once yet had no reply. Showed the guy on reception the e mails l sent all he said was l don't know what happened there. Basically l had to pay more for less due to poor customer service. If you can get a good deal l recommend going but for what l had to pay plus l had to change my room due to a smelly issue, l feel it's not good value anymore."
