"Absolutely — I’d keep your tone straightforward and fair, while making the review flow a little more naturally: This hotel served my needs well as a basic place to stay. The location makes it an excellent and affordable alternative to staying in central Amsterdam, where a comparable hotel could easily cost three times as much. It’s conveniently located about midway between the airport and the city center, and the hotel is only about a one-minute walk from Sloterdijk station. The room was no-frills but comfortable, and the included breakfast was fine. Overall, it was a good value for the price. I had two complaints. First, there was no mini-fridge in the room, which I was surprised by as I consider that fairly standard these days. More importantly, the room temperature was an issue. It never managed to get above 19°C (about 66°F), and the thermostat kept shutting itself off. For me, the room was simply too cold. Despite those issues, the convenient location and reasonable price make this a good option for a short stay if you’re looking for something practical rather than luxurious."

"The property is in a quiet new residential neighborhood just west of central. Initially I was a little concerned with distance to the city attractions but after 4 nights at The July, I can truthfully say the location was perfect for us. Still easily connected by a healthy walk, bike, tram/bus, free ferries or the occasional Uber, the quiet riverfront location was a great respite from central and had some very notable restaurants close by. Our 1 bedroom suite faced the river where we could watch swimmers and boaters as well as the river commerce drift by. The room was lovely, well appointed and spotless. The fitness facility outfitted with Technogym equipment was a great plus. There’s also a wellness centre with sauna and steam. The pre booking system ensured the facilities were not overcrowded. The self serve laundry facility was a great convenience. The restaurant, Vessel, served up solid meals and we took advantage of the live jazz Saturday night. The staff were friendly, informative and eager to be of help. We would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone wanting an upscale, relaxing, quiet yet convenient visit to Amsterdam."

"Attractive waterside location and easily accessible from Centraal Station using the 48 bus to Koivistokade (although there seemed to be nowhere to buy tickets for the return journey). Front desk staff were friendly and helpful. The room was clean and well-equipped. The only problem I encountered was a system error relating to add-ons to the booking. Shortly before the stay I received a message offering a range of extras and chose the buffet breakfast but this request was not registered and I had to re-book breakfast on arrival with the help of the front desk staff. Around 10 hours after I checked out I received a further message stating " Breakfast Buffet is not available in the chosen set-up "."

Mercure Hotel Amsterdam Sloterdijk Station

"Overall I enjoyed my stay at Mercure Hotel Amsterdam Sloterdijk Station. The hotel was close to the train station which meant it was easy to get out and about. The room I stayed in was very spacious with ample room to move about. The bathroom was also larger than expected. The only minor dissatisfaction with the room was I could see the Girl with the Pearl Earring painting in the room had what looked like some liquid streak on it which you could see at an angle, as well as some liquid streaks on the door that opened up the area for where the kettle is. One thing of note to anyone looking to stay at this particular hotel. There are major roadworks going on in front of the hotel which means the access to the train station is to go around the roadworks which isn't a lot more walking but still a detour to direct access. Whilst we were there which was over the weekend and a couple of days into the week there wasn't any actual work so there was not any noise disturbance. However, I can imagine that being an issue for hotel guests when work is going on outside the hotel."
