"The room itself was actually nice and very clean, which I appreciated. However, the overall experience was quite frustrating.
We were given a room located in a building across the street from the main hotel. Crucially, we were never told at the time of booking that our room would be outside of the main building. This made it incredibly inconvenient to use the amenities we were looking forward to. Having to walk across the street just to get to the breakfast in the morning or to use the indoor pool was a major hassle. It felt like we were staying at a separate, less convenient property rather than the main Hyatt. This lack of transparency regarding the room location really spoiled the stay."
Howard Johnson Plaza Hotel by Wyndham Ocean City Oceanfront
10/10 Excellent
"The place we clean and walking distance to great food. The onsite restaurant was also good, we went there almost every night. Staff was friendly, processional and took wonderful care of us."
"The room was great, construction happening in the building was a bit of an inconvenience. Extra funds being withdrawn from my account was a inconvenience after i prepaid with Expedia. Breakfast options that I had to pay for were minimal. "
"Really bad experience at this hotel. Hotel does not appear as it looks online. Beware before booking. Any area of the hotel outside of the actual room is old, beat up, dirty, paint chipping and smelly. Everything had a musty old smell. While the room was "ok" it lacked cleanliness. There was hair everywhere. All over the floor and in the bathroom. Lipstick on the cups in the kitchen area and on a pillowcase. The fridge handles had gunk all over them. There was a horrible smell coming from one of the cabinets in the kitchen area. We paid for a side ocean view and what we had was a dumpster view. Trash dumpsters were emptied before 7 am waking the whole family up. There was a constant drip of water onto our balcony, but it was not raining. This made the balcony unusable since everything was always wet (yuk). Pool area was dirty, water was cloudy and not clear, my kids didn't even like swimming in it. There was paint chipping off the walls in our bathroom and a big wet/repair spot in the ceiling of the bedroom. The staff were not helpful in fixing any of the issues or helping customers. The whole stay was very unpleasant and we couldn't wait to check out and leave. Would never return and encourage anyone looking at this hotel to keep looking. One of the worst hotels I have ever stayed at. "
"This trip I gave 3 stars because I did not like being woken up at 12 AM by an emergency fire alarm and having to vacate and use stairs from the 6th floor with a sprained ankle. While others were rushing from a packed hotel trying to get out of the building.
No fault to their own but I think the fire escape plan should be a bit better for such a large hotel.
I get emergencies happen. And luckily it was not a fire and everyone was safe. But it was definitely chaos.
Think they should definitely look in to their alarm system and do an update.
The night prior the alarm for their garage kept going on and off for hours.
We always stay at the Grand Hotel and love the location, friendly staff. The beds are comfortable and over all cleanly. The food quality & options could definitely be better for the price. We have not had good experiences with the food. The coffee drinks at Java have been really good! Pepperoni pizza is good! Rest of the food was not too good.
But over all compared to other hotels this is definitely one of our favorites and can’t wait to return ❤️. "
