"The building is old and the rooms are bare bones. The bathtub looked old and had rust in some areas, and the tap was faulty so could not pull it all the way up to take full advantage of the shower. The window as just a small portion of a very long wall so the room was quite dark."

"We booked the Royal Sonesta because we had an amazing stay with the Royal Sonesta in Chicago. In reading some of the previous reviews, I was a little worried. We arrived at the hotel early. We were pleased to find out we had been upgraded for free and were allowed to check in early. The fees were exactly as stated in the pre-arrival email and noted by hotels.com so no surprises! The room was definitely worn, but very clean (didn’t see any bugs the whole week) and perfect for what we needed. The water pressure was awful, but the water was nice and hot. We enjoyed the courtyard, pool area, Le Booze, the Jazz Playhouse, and PJs Coffee while we were there. Of course there was a little noise, but we welcomed it; it was the whole reason we booked on Bourbon Street! The staff was friendly and helped notify us about airport issues upon departure. My only wish list items would be better water pressure, a microwave in the room, and a door man during the week. Absolutely worth the price and will definitely stay again!"

"The pictures of the hotel online , are very beautiful but you are not able to see how clean it is. I was a former houskeepeer and the cleanliness was not up to standards. The bedsheets had not been replaced, i could tell it was previously slept in from previous hotel guset. There was hair, lint, crumbs, and dust on the floor and the bed frame and tables from the previous guest.it appeared like we had clean towels "thank God". The floors had not been sweeped or mopped in a while, cause the floors were kinda sticky,as well as you could see stains and hair from previous guest. I couldn't get much sleep cause it is a loud area and I am a light sleeper. But also, i cant relax or sleep in a hotel room that im paying for hoping and assuming it Should be cleaned before each guest. I called the front desk, "super sweet lady" and asked if we could get the room cleaned and sheets changed while we were out. She said "ok baby, we'll take care of it"but they only gave us fresh towels, and swept( or swiffered) the floors real quick cause the bed sheets were the exact same ones. How do I know? Cause there were some small green dot stains on the sheets and they were still there every day. Its a beautiful hotel, but the housekeeping needs better habits or management on cleanliness. "
