Top Duck River East Conservation Area Hotel Reviews
Tall Timbers Tasmania
10/10 Excellent
"We stayed several nights on our west coast adventure, visiting Stanley, Smithton and the Tarkine Drive. We last stayed here over 10 years ago and while renovations and some other things have changed, the peaceful atmosphere, quiet nights and friendly staff made it feel like coming home. We even stayed in the same apartment as our last trip! The bedroom was comfortable, great bed, good shower, heated up very quickly on some very cold mornings! The bistro was some of the best food we've had on our trip from the beef fillet and lamb shoulder one night, to the pizza the next. We didn't get to eat breakfast here since we were so comfortable we overslept each day!"
"We expected a hotel-style room but walked into a wonderfully wood furnished cottage-like apartment with large 50s style full kitchen/dining room, living room with leather recliners and effective electric fireplace, comfortable bedroom, large bathroom with claw tub, and separate shower. All of the above connected by a great hallway. We stayed an extra night but could have easily rented for a week or more."
"The room was very comfortable . Breakfast provisions provided were more than enough to start the day.
The lounge area was a great place for a coffee and a muscat and meet other guests
Really enjoyed our stay at the Ship Inn. "
"The property has the most wonderful views from its elevated position. The driveway is steep - but worth it. Imagine beautiful sunsets in front of a roaring fire on the deck in autumn - that’s what we got. (Not sure if the owners arranged the sunsets, but the fire & indoor wood burner were ready to light.)
Kitchen was stocked with choice of cereals plus milk & juice for breakfast plus other nice touches. There were many appliances & cookware options and a BBQ to boot.
Bathroom & kitchen were very clean, but allergies were triggered in the bedroom (maybe dusty curtains?).
Local wildlife in the garden was an added bonus.
Smithton is located in the north-west, close to the Tarkine drive & Stanley. It has grocery stores & coffee shops making this a great property to base yourself for a few days or just as a romantic getaway.
