"The hotel reception area is lovely -mcshanes var & restaurant needs a complete overall as very dated and tables, chairs are wobbly and most chairs have split or damaged covering .
Service is very slow only staffed by young people who looked stressed at times - food was good when it arrived and plenty of it .
Rooms advertised as delux are basic - dirty carpets , old bed frames, pillows are very full but incredibly uncomfortable, woke up with stiff neck , asked for replacements ie soft fud not arrive after 2 days where I actually went and got them myself but no better flat and hard !! Not hotel quality pillows - cold room no extra blankets to use !! Had booked deluxe double room ended up with a triple - 2 single beds - 1 double /kingsize when questioned this I was told that’s the room allocated to you !! Very clutter with the extra beds and not the room we booked !! Tea & coffee supplied in the room which was nice but very sparse -2 tea bags / 4 coffee sachet/ 4 milk /4 sugar -3cups- The experience was disappointing I was expecting more delux - no room safe no mini fridge - 6 coat hangers for a weeks stay. No plugs by bed - the room & bath room were very clean but very dated and dirty carpets !! Didn’t spend much time in it -The staff I have to say are very friendly and always greet you - which was very nice . Would not return "
"booked a family rooms, asked for 3 beds, had a call with the hotel the week before and asked again for 3 beds. Checked in on the day and asked again to ensure there were 3 beds as had to visit a relative before going to the room. Got to the room at 8 o'clock that evening only 2 beds. Staff in the hotel arent great and the food is just ok"
"The Talbot hotel is amazing, a great gem tucked away in the breathtaking West coast of Ireland. The food is great, the service spectacular, and the rooms well kept, large, and comfortable. Highly recommend both the hotel and the surrounding area for all people who want to experience real Irish hospitality. "
"Great hotel. Lots of parking. We had a family room which was huge. Breakfast was fantastic with very friendly staff. The bar is nice with great staff and really nice food. Reception staff were lovely. Check in/check out very quick.
Only 2 things I'd change:
1. Last orders for food is 8pm. I think 9pm would be better for later eaters.
2. The same few songs played over and over in the bar. The songs were good Irish songs but we heard them at least 5 times each.
Oh and 1 more thing. There was no entertainment for St. Patrick's Day which was pretty disappointing. The bacon and cabbage with parsley sauce was divine though.
Would I stay again??? YESSSS!!!!!!!!"
"Room cold and decor needs to be upgraded. Breakfast mediocre. Evening meal was incredible as was spa. Some small tweaks would have made a huge difference. Staff were lovely. "
