"The state was very pleasant and most importantly we were allowed to check in 15 minutes early. This helped so much because we were there for a wedding that was starting at 3 PM. After a long drive from Connecticut it was nice to be able to get in there put her stuff down and get ready for the wedding."

"As it turned out, my wife and I were unable to stay at the Captain's Cottage due to a severe weather front that was going through that part of New Jersey when we were scheduled to stay there. The weather was so severe that New Jersey was under a State of Emergency at the time and severe flooding was anticipated. Although we were unable to stay there, I wanted to say that the owner Bryan, was very communicative and kind during this critical time. He understood our concern and was very understanding and helpful . It was clear that his primary concern was our safety which we really appreciated. We had been really looking forward to our stay, so we plan to make a new reservation when the weather is a little more agreeable."

"The property was lovely and quiet. There was lots of public space with even a game room. Our room was huge although the wall TV was positioned so that it was not easily seen from the beds which was odd. The parking was on-site and adequate. Breakfast is served at another property which is a few blocks down the street - not the most convenient, but OK. There is only one time for breakfast - 9:00 am which was late for us and if you are staying there for any reason that requires a specific schedule, this could be a problem. The main issue we had was they said that check-in was only from 3-5pm and late night check-in couldn't be accommodated which didn't work for us. After a significant amount of back forth, they agreed to self-check-in which was very easy. Since staff aren't physically at the property, self-check-in should be offered up front. However, I wasn't told the address of the breakfast property and I didn't discover that they offer on-site coffee until the end of my stay. Also, on the last day they put a property info sheet in my room. So basic coordination/communication could improve but the property is comfortable and charming and the breakfast was tasty. Please note that this property has shared baths."
