"I had about 4 nights here. Was in the "Siesta" room. The room was clean and had the nice wood smell. Has new microwave and fridge that provided to be useful. A/C worked well and restroom was spacious. I did not use the coffee machine with the $8 coffee bag because you can simply show up to breakfast and have that coffee with the breakfast coupons. Nice chairs outside the room. I would have liked an iron and a small ironing board to have fresher looking dinner clothes, but did not matter as much. A small broom in the room would be nice so I can self clean some of the sand that I would bring in. Staff was very friendly. Robert the shuttle driver, Elda Fisher at check-in, Isaac at the restaurant, and the shuttle driver who brought me back to the airport all left a warm spot in my heart for West Bay. So did the noisy Macaws, but that was part of the beauty. I also found an iguana running through the property that I couldn't catch. The property itself had some current upkeep being done. I'd definitely choose this spot again over the overly sterile resort across the street. Oh and the food at the hotel was delicious! "

"If you are looking for the absolute best place to stay in Roatan, look no further than Mr. Tucan. From the moment we arrived for check-in until the second we headed out after check-out, we were blown away by the service. I truly cannot say it enough: this is the friendliest staff around. They handle everything in between with such genuine care that you feel like family by the end of your stay. The LOCATION is simply unbeatable. You are right in the heart of West End, meaning you’re steps away from the best diving, shopping, and nightlife, yet the hotel still feels like a private escape. A few things that made our stay extra special: Complimentary Breakfast: It is absolutely delicious and the perfect way to fuel up for a day of exploring. Beach Chairs: Having these available was a huge hit! It made transitioning from the hotel to the turquoise waters of Half Moon Bay completely seamless. Impeccable Rooms: Our room was very clean and well-maintained throughout our stay—it was clear the housekeeping team takes great pride in their work. Peace of Mind: With 24-hour around-the-clock security, we felt incredibly safe and relaxed the entire time. Mr. Tucan offers the perfect blend of comfort, convenience, and world-class hospitality. We will definitely be back!"

"Unfortunately we did not have water for 2 days, and while it may or may not be a maintenance issue, it simply made our stay very uncomfortable as we couldn’t shower, use the washroom, etc. The staff are very courteous and friendly but they operate based on the hotel’s rules/budget so there’s not much more they can do. The floor in the room was filthy and I don’t think it was cleaned/moped once during our stay (showed on our feet after walking barefoot, after coming from beach with clean feet). The toilet kept malfunctioning, and there wasn’t a vent in the washroom so you can imagine the stench in the ‘superior suite’ for 6 people with 1 washroom. The breakfast consisted of the same (white bread, eggs, sausages and beans) and did not offer any fruits, vegetables, etc. I’ve stayed at the Bananarama before which is the same price and the rooms are a bit more rustic than this one but the food is far better. There is also no lunch/dinner options on site. Bit of a walk to the beach and their partnering beachfront resort is a 20 min walk. I would not recommend this place and would suggest any comparable beachfront hotel a better option. The Bananarama also offered evening entertainment for free. "
