"If you are coming to Asuncion, strongly consider staying at the Arthaus Boutique. It's about 5-10 minutes outside of "downtown" Asuncion, but as you'll find, there really isn't much in "downtown" Asuncion. Instead the area around Arthaus is a more upscale area with private homes, and walking distance to two major shopping areas, restaurants, and higher end spots. "The hotel staff and owner were very nice, accommodating and friendly. The hotel itself could do with some renovations, as there is a musky/damp feeling at all times in the room and hotel. You can hear everything in the hall and the lobby area - even though I was on the 2nd floor. The breakfast could also be improved and alternatives provided. "The Resort Y Golf Club Paraguayo was a decent stay. The property is spacious and the staff were always eager to help. The rooms were clean, breakfast was decent and it was overall a pleasant stay. The property is a bit dated and they are currently doing renovations. They can also use more English speaking staff at the front desk if they want to appeal more to North American English speaking travelers."

The pools constantly had a lot of debris, which are really not a harmful thing, but just makes the pool look bad. In the spa, there should be a way to lower the air conditioning because otherwise after getting out of the warm pool or the sauna or steam room it feels very, very cold. "
