Hotel Laugarbakki

10/10 Excellent

"what a little gem on our drive around the island. Helpful staff and the onsite restaurant was amazing. Out dinner was spectacular as was the breakfast."

Aurora Igloo North

8/10 Good

"Loved our igloo, bed, and the northern lights! It was such a beautiful place to stay when exploring Iceland. Very cute, comfortable, and highly recommend. One thing would be nice is if there was a luggage stand for in the bathroom for when showering, my luggage got wet because the shower drain wasn’t draining quick enough. Also maybe some shelving inside the bathroom stalls to hold clothing while getting ready. Lastly, I wish I would have known there is a downhill gravel trail to the igloos because I had luggage to carry down and up the hill which wasn’t too easy, but otherwise easy peasy."

North West Restaurant & Guesthouse

8/10 Good

"The property is clean, staff was helpful and the dining area was busy, lots of people eating good food. Now the reason I gave 4 stars is because this is a truck stop, literally drove right by the place because it does not look like a hotel. The noise from the trucks and the highway was alot until after 10pm. Also the room was cool when we got in so turned the heat up and it never got warmer. The bathroom is tiny! When you shower nothing in the bathroom comes out dry, even with the shower curtain nothing was safe. Expedia has it advertised as Breakfast for a fee, but after October the breakfast is not offered at all. Overall, if all you need is a cheap room, clean bed, shower, and convienent location, literally 50feet off the highway, this place really is great."

Karuna Guesthouse

10/10 Excellent

"I loved this location and the property itself. It had everything I needed to be comfortable. There were no staff present, but the self check in was very easy and they were responsive by message when I had a question. The reviews mentioned it being a good place to see the northern lights (on a clear night, of course) and they were right! The hot tub and sauna are small, but wonderful. During my stay, there were just two other rooms booked and I was able to use both amenities solo. The kitchen was well equipped for me to make dinner and store my food in the fridge. The common space was beautiful with big windows to look out of. I didn't use the tv, but they had a lot of channels accessible. The only thing I would ask for next time is an extra towel or two so you don't have to use your towel for the shower to dry off from the hot tub."
