"Lovely quiet setting, a cluster of very stylish bungalows set amongst palm trees a couple of minutes walk from the beach. "Ok - where do I start! The “rooms” where not ready when we arrived- no one was expecting us in fact, I spoke to the lovely lady who owned the place and she explained that her rooms where usually pay by the hour (ugh). We had no choice but to stay here - one of the rooms had no lock and another had no bed! This was soon rectified but not to a satisfaction we would expect. There where no televisions in the rooms, no fridges (not even a plug socket!) one room didn’t even have bedding!...

Grand Serendib Hotel

10/10 Excellent

"A beautifully maintained hotel in hills of Kandy overlooking the lake and town. Great Srilankan food and the rooms are fantastic. Thank you to all staff. I will return"

Cassendra Kandy

8/10 Good

"I initially had some issues with this facility, with the room and bathroom cleanliness. However, management rectified it and the remainder of my stay went smoothly. Property is somewhat dated. The replacement room was orderly. Good location, staff were attentive and polite. As far as a hotel rating goes, it is about a 2-2.5 star facility. The breakfast buffet is planned based on guest nationality, when I tried it, it was mainly an Indian breakfast, but I found items I liked to eat! Lack of an elevator has to be disclosed IMO for safety of the guests and disabled guests. Food choices can be limited based on occupancy, primarily for Lunch and Dinner. There are many eateries in the city of Kandy nearby and they are easy to get to."

Amaya Lake Dambulla

10/10 Excellent

"An amazing place with expansive gardens with many pathways to wander along. The lake surrounded by mountains is stunning. We saw two types of monkeys in the garden. There are two pools, one near the huge bar and restaurant and the other at the edge of the property looking over the shore of the lake. The rooms are huge and clean with comfortable beds. The staff are so friendly and helpful. They will pick you up on a small golf buggy from your room and drop you back when ever you need. The food is delicious and so much variety. It's a huge luxury complex work so much to offer! A thoroughly wonderful stay- we booked an extra night so that we could spend time in the hotel grounds to enjoy it as we spent so much time sightseeing outside."
