"Sadly Eritrea is not a tourist destination to recommend. The hotel is expensive for about a one star hotel. Wifi is virtually non existent, hot water a rare commodity and food very average. One can only travel out of Asmara with difficulty and great expense. Not a place I will return to in a hurry, much as I loved Asmara in the past. "

"The Crystal Hotel is the best hotel in Eritrea in a great location walking distance to almost everything downtown.Rooms are sizeable, clean and comfortable. Staff is super friendly and helpful. Breakfast at the in-house cafe is substantial. Hotel has WiFi but EVERYWHERE in Eritrea WiFi is super slow. So don't expect to do much more than send emails, which takes time to load incoming and send outgoing. Apps work better than web browsers, which basically don't work. Literally getting one email from your outbox to sent could take 10 - 20."
