"Overall I enjoyed the property. I found this to be a much better trip than our trip to the Riu Santa Fe in Cabo last year. But I would say it's for different reasons. I simply enjoy PV more. I think Santa Fe's resort is better from the sheer size and food options. We enjoy walking the resort at SF, but that's what the beach is for in PV!
Having more buffets was nice at SF vs the buffet at Jalisco/Flamingos. Speaking of buffet, we went off peak in the spring, the hotel caters to the demographic at the time. Which they should. But keep in mind 5.5M local people live 3.5 hours away and this is their piece of paradise. So expect when you go off peak that 60-70% of the buffet will resemble local foods, the entertainment will be mostly Spanish speaking, and you will have a different experience than a Cancun or Playa del Carmen or Cabo trip. Not bad, just different. Some might not like that, we really enjoyed this specifically.
The room reno's were excellent. The grounds are nice. Lots of people will comment that the place lost character. To me it's a Riu. I know what to expect and that's why I'm a repeat customer.
Riu app is vague and often missing information. Foam party during day isn't clear when it's happening, white/neon isn't declared in the app, just simply stated as Riu party. Karaoke was a hit and they should double or triple down on this.
No beach umbrellas, I mean what? Really? You cut down hundreds of palm trees and didn't give us umbrellas? Bad call."
