"Hotel Indigo Durham – Stay 30th September & 1st October 2026 My friend and I stayed at Hotel Indigo Durham for two nights. The hotel is in an excellent location, with many of Durham’s sights and attractions within easy walking distance. I requested a quiet room and we were very pleased with the room we received. It was lovely and quiet, very comfortable, and the beds were extremely comfortable, giving us both a great night’s sleep. The bathroom was stunning, with a large shower which was a real pleasure to use. One of the highlights was the beautiful dining room. It is a stunning space and, in my opinion, worth staying at the hotel just to experience it. Breakfast was excellent, freshly cooked, served hot and made with good-quality ingredients. We thoroughly enjoyed it. We travelled from the train station to the hotel by Uber, which cost around £7 and was very convenient with our luggage. During our stay, we visited Durham Cathedral, which was beautiful and definitely worth seeing. Entry is free, although a £5 donation is requested. We were very happy to make a donation. The cathedral has also been used as a filming location for some of the Harry Potter films. We also enjoyed meals at 19Twenty Bar & Grill and Turkish Kitchen Meze & Grill, both of which were lovely. Overall, we had a wonderful stay. The excellent location, quiet and comfortable room, stunning bathroom, beautiful dining room and excellent breakfast made our visit very enjoyable. "Beautifully maintained Castle and grounds. Room was exceptional, makes you feel like a king or queen. Nice quiet bar to have a drink, great dining room and quality food. Great cooked to order English breakfast. Everything was great. It set a stand for us for the rest of our castle hotel search. I would stay here anytime. One suggestion though is to have soothing, calming music at breakfast, as background music, instead of 'hit parade'."
