Location was terrific and staff were wonderful. Fun outdoor bar by the pool. The room was fine but the outdoor area by the pool, including the chairs and ground, was poorly tended. Lots of leaves, etc. in the pool and chairs not wiped down.

I booked this hotel by mistake. I thought I was booking a hotel in Wisconsin with a similar name, Sundara spa. I paid the travel protection fee and when I realized I booked a hotel out of the country minutes after I made the reservation, Expedia would not cancel this or immediately credit my account. It’s been three days and still no credit. I had to file a claim minutes after the mistaken booking. Then I booked a hotel in WI using Expedia again and when my daughter went to check in, they told her they had to charge her even though the room was paid in full bc I wasn’t physically there, she is 27, and I spoke with the hotel confirming that yes, I purchased the room and could easily show my cc and photo idea. They refused this and charged my daughter. I’m extremely unhappy with Expedia.

Egészében jók a benyomásaim, kiváló helyen van, a Sziklatemplom szomszédságában. A szálloda állapota közepesen megkopott, új építkezés is zajlik, viszonylag csendben. A személyzet udvarias, előzékeny. Egy dolgot viszont kérek tisztázni: a kifizetett foglalás részletezésében szerepelt a napi palackozott víz ingyenesen. A kicsekkolás után derült ki, hogy felszámolták újra a napi három vizet 250 rupee/db áron. Ha a Hotels.com foglalásában szerepel tévesen, kérem javítani, ha dupla számlázás történt, kérem rendezni, ha nem is nagy az összeg.

A Satisfactory Stay

I had booked the hotel for three nights from 7th to 10th Feb 2020. The hotel is well located on the main road with easy accessibility to public transport. The room was however without any phone/intercom, the shower head was broken and there were no chairs to sit on. the lady at the reception was, however very helpful and courteous and resolved most issues albeit after a while. The swimming pool is rather small and shallow, 5ft being the deepest. No place for an exercise swim. The breakfast was well prepared and offered good choice of continental and Sri Lankan cuisine. Overall a satisfactory stay, thanks mainly to the lady at the reception.

Keep your expectations low and u may be surprised!

The welcome at Sundaras Resort & Spa was friendly and warm. Our rooms however clearly had not been cleaned in a while. We came with reasonably high expectations of this four-star resort, but wound up feeling a bit disappointed with the state of the resort. It made a somewhat derelict impression as if the accommodation had not been tended to in a while. From the outside it actually looks quite nice and staff did their best to accommodate us, but when you look below the surface, there is quite a bit of maintenance to be done.

Sundaras is a little gem in the heart of Dambulla, great location for sightseeing and the hotel gives you a ‘real’ experience of Sri Lanka. Staff were amazing and at hand 24 hrs. Big thanks to Sean, Liz, Sindhu, Asita, Tito, Saman (our driver) and the cleaning staff. They really ensured we got the best experience out of our trip. We planned our excursions through the hotel, really well organised, although a little pricey hiring driver with entrance fees. Good range of food although not as spicy as we would’ve liked. Overall had a great time here.

Vi blev vänligt bemötta av trevliga Elisabeth i receptionen. Mysigt och tyst läge, med fint poolområde. Njöt till fullo på balkongen, och fick lite djungel känsla, väldigt grönt och lummigt. Gjorde en dagstur med jeep till Kejonklippan. Vår chaufför AK var fantastiskt trevlig! Väldigt nöjda med frukost och goda omeletter.

Advarsel !!

Fik først et værelse, hvor airconditionen ikke virkede. Fik et nyt værelse, hvor airconditionen virkede, men hvor lagnerne var snavsede. I det hele taget meget beskidt og med muk på væggen. Havde bestilt superior værelse med udsigt til haven, men fik efter værelsesskiftet et standardværelse uden udsigt til haven. Haven var helt overgroet, og poolen så beskidt ud .Havemøblerne var så snavsede, at vores tøj blev beskidt, når vi sad på dem. Dugene på bordene i restauranten var møj beskidte. Der var næsten ingen ansatte, og kun få andre gæster. Der var ingen service overhovedet. Hotellet virkede som om det var på vej til at lukke helt ned. Blev der kun 1 nat, da det var for sent at skifte hotel samme dag som vi ankom.

My Stay at Sundaras Resort

This hotel is very close to the dambulla cave, thus making it good option to stay here. There not many restaurants around hence you will end up with less options. The food is overly priced , less in quantity in comparison to other places in Srilanka.. They had place 2 water bottles inside fridge in our room we used it, there was no price tag mentioned anywhere in room. Guess the price this hotel must have charged.... A bottle that costs 50 rs was charged for 250rs.. very bad experience.
