We only stayed a night but it had almost everything you'd need for a stay. "Incredibly warm and informative welcome, Andy ensured we had everything we needed, dinner was amazing, freshly cooked, very tasty and excellent choice for vegetarians Room was beautifully decorated with a super comfy bed and enormous fluffy towels Breakfast was preordered which meant it was freshly cooked when we needed it and totally set us up for the day Both Andy and Wendy are incredibly hard working and dedicated ensuring that the needs and comfort of customers come first and are always of a high standard"

"When we booked there were only 2 rooms left so we ended up right at the top of the main building. They did offer to help with our cases but we were ok. The room was clean if a little tired. The wardrobe had only 2 hangers but we asked at reception and they found some more for us. One of the drawer fronts was only held on by one screw and the wardrobe door didn’t shut properly as some of the hinges were damaged. The room wasn’t always cleaned properly when it was serviced but overall was ok. It was comfortable. The breakfast was good. A nice range of continental and hot. I was a little surprised that asking for a latte added additional charge. The Fat Abbot was also very nice, the food was good although not huge portions if you want that. The spa and swimming pool was lovely albeit very warm in the evening because it was so hot outside and it is in a glass building with a glass lantern overhead. Good size. Parking was plentiful on site and we never had an issue there. There is a bus stop just outside and this made getting into York a breeze the 415 gets you there into the middle of and back again to outside the hotel easily. But if you prefer there is a park and ride at the York designer outlet about 10 mins up the road Overall would stay again. They were working on the hotel having the main reception area repainted and papered."
