Site of former Crosby Garrett station, 1986. View southward, towards Kirkby Stephen, Settle Junction, Hellifield, Leeds etc.: ex-Midland Settle & Carlisle main line. The station had been closed 6/10/52 and this major main line was in threat of closure at the time of the photograph but has since seen a remarkable renaissance

Site of Crosby Garrett station This south bound coal train is passing the site of Crosby Garrett station. Closed in 1956, the platforms were set into the cutting needing hefty retaining walls. The station house which still exists as a private dwelling is hidden from view behind the trees on the right of the overbridge.
