At first, I thought I saw something where it was included but then later in booking it showed an extra cost for breakfast so I added that to my expense (not a small amount!). To be fair to the customer, this extra expense should have been clearly stated, especially since I saw many customers simply walking in to eat breakfast with no or little checking by staff."

"A stunning building situated in an excellent location close to the vaparetto pier & surrounded by shops, bars & restaurants to visit. The breakfast offering is substantial and varied for all tastes. The garden & pool surrounded by loungers was a real bonus, & the Thai Spa was amazing - well worth a visit! All staff we encountered, without exception, were outstanding! They are welcoming, professional in their duties, ensuring that your stay is one to remember. Excellent communication from concierges Ivan & Paolo pre arrival from the hotel with information on public transport and private water taxis from the airport made our arrival stress free. Facilities throughout are spotless. Our room was light & airy with a comfortable large bed, easy chairs, large screed tv and spacious bathroom with quality towels & products. Complementary water, and coffee machine was most welcome. My only negative on the bathrooms would be the very bright movement sensor light that comes on when entering the bathroom that we could not disable. The problem being that the bathroom wall has attractive etched glass panels so the very bright ceiling spot light illuminates the bedroom too & disturbs sleep of your partner if you need to visit the bathroom in the night or early morning. It is clearly a safety addition but maybe something the hotel could consider reviewing with something less intrusive or the ability to disable if the guest wishes. But we loved our stay & look forward to returning"

"This was easily our best staying experience. The staff was attentive and helpful at every turn (to the cleaning staff asking if we needed anything). The concierge service was truly outstanding in setting up transit, showing us routes through Venice, and generally pleasant. The breakfast was good but repetitive. We went to the spa and that was also very pleasant. We did the couples massage. I have nothing not recommend staying here (we are likely to if we go back to Venice). Having a serene atmosphere after the bustle is nice."

"Hotel Santa Chiara very clean and comfortable, with a traditional Venetian decor and vibe, and is located very conveniently to transportation. Access to the train station (Ferrovia Santa Lucia) requires crossing only one canal bridge and a short walk on the opposite bank. There are numerous vaporetto stations serving principal canal routes a few steps from the front door of the hotel, as are a taxi stand and the bus terminal. The staff is courteous and helpful with making restaurant recommendations and reservations, and with arranging transportation to the airport. Our room was spacious and comfortable and had two windows overlooking the grand canal. The bathroom has modern fixtures and a very nice shower. The hotel has an elevator. The breakfast dining room is pleasant, overlooking nearby canal and pedestrian traffic. Hotel Santa Chiara offers dinner reservations at Hotel Plazzo Stern. The Stern patio is a lovely, secluded and quiet setting for dinner by the Grand Canal and the food and table service is very good. We enjoyed it very much."
