"I loved staying at the merrydale. It was quiet and peaceful, very clean, comfortable bed and convenient to trains, shopping and restaurants. The breakfast was so delicious. They did a special vegan gluten free meal which i still am thinking about. I highly recommend it."

"One of the nicest hotels I’ve stayed in both in terms of the gorgeous building with lots of original features and the owners. The owner was really kind and helpful with knowledge on activities and restaurants in the area, the room was fabulous! The cooked breakfast, as a vegetarian was the best I’ve had in a restaurant A brilliant stay I only wish I was staying for longer. I’ll definitely be back "

The review format asked for echo-friendliness so had to mark down a little for the use of small plastic bottles in the bathroom and the individual packaged portions of butter, jam, sugar and salt at breakfast. It's a difficult balance between freshness and disposable containers. "

"We enjoyed our stay. The location is great. The hosts were friendly and accommodating. They gave us good advice on the surrounding trails. The room offered beautiful views, was clean and well maintained. The property had a wonderful garden where you can relax after a long day walking. There was a nice lounge area as well where you could watch TV, listen to music or grab a hot or cold drink; some snacks available to purchase. The breakfast was ok.
