The Wyndham Arms does not exist.

The place is now called The Clearwell. No staff, a room that was open,all others locked.No key.Keycode on open door so couldn't lock it.No one around so stayed there.No one else in block. No breakfast. What a set up.Think now establishment taken over by Clearwell Castle. Think we should be compensated for one night and morning.

Pooch-friendly hotel

We chose this location as it was close to Forest of Dean mountain biking sites and allowed dogs in the rooms and main hotel.The hotel looked closed and quiet when we arrived but there was a very pleasant receptionist and we were quickly in our room. We were in an annexe room as we expected, which was a spacious modern family room with double and bunk beds. All was clean and there were tea/coffee facilities, hairdryer etc. Bed a little uncomfy. We had chosen this hotel as it was dog friendly - very - but were disappointed that there was no evening meal available and we had to go down the road to another pub (which luckily was excellent). However, we took the dog into the bar for breakfast, which was very nice and plentiful. The staff were all very friendly. all in all a pleasnat stay.

Rooms very dated and need a freshening up. However room rate competitive so depends what your looking for in your stay !

Good food

We wanted a place to stay with a log fire and good food. The food was good, but the log fire turned out to be a wood burner. There were no towels in the room and we had to ask for some. The girl behind the bar / waitress / chambermaid (she seemed to do all three!) was lovely, very friendly.

Terrible stay.

The manager was not very helpful and it did not help that there was no toilet rolls or towels on arrival, dirty cups from previous bookings in the room only 2 TV channel's. Bed was very springy will definitely not be stopping here again.

Great location, hotel needs improvements

Stayed in the annex, rooms were tatty and in need of improvements. Hotel under-staffed, location was good - but wouldn't stay there again.
