It was an old hotel but charming. Robin was so helpful. Room was clean ,comfy bed, hot shower. We had dinner in the restaurant on the property. Food was delicious as was breakfast. Lorraine was very attentive and kind. Would never have went there if I didn’t pre book. So glad we did

Nicely set up bathroom with full size tub and hot water. Only complaint was the 2mm turn of tap difference between scalding hot and ice cold😂Not a problem for bath but dicey for shower. Corner room with 3 windows so good ventilation but a bit noisy as on the high street. Food in pub was excellent with the best Cullen Skink I've tasted

Very small car park. Our room was in the attic and picked up all outside noise from main road. Also some very noisy guests outside keeping us awake into early hours. Lovely breakfast.

Lovely little hotel

We had to contact the hotel in advance because we had a delay in our arrival. They were splendid: helpful, friendly and understanding. We were only there two days to help our family to relocate but we couldn't fault the service, the breakfast or the staff. Super.

Excellent hotel, service and food.

Excellent service, and very good value. Comfortable and clean. Excellent breakfast (included). Very good attention to detail. The only drawback for us was having an attic double room which was too small really, and needed to have a window open (summer) letting in the constant overnight noise of heavy lorries passing the front of the hotel.

Great food & friendly service

Service was great. I was concerned when I went in the premises on entry looked a little tired, but the room was nice & clean, well maintained. The food was excellent with the addition of hot stone steaks to cook it to my preference. I was on large heavy motorbike so was unable to safely park in an already full car park, the off road parking in the square was safe & secure, I had problems at all

The whole place is battered. Appropriately the whole place also stinks of fried food, including the bedding and consequently ALL our clothing next day. The bar is no better. The landlord isn’t the greatest of hosts but to be fair, the lady who served breakfast was very pleasant and again, to be fair, breakfast was great.

Great stay, amazing food

Wonderful hosts and excellent service. The bar is a friendly pub frequented by locals as well as residents. We were allocated the family room although only the two of us. It was very spacious. There is a separate restaurant where breakfast is served. Breakfast was great and apart from cereal everything is served to you table. We ate dinner in the hotel and it was amazing (wish now I had taken photos!), we had the chowder which was homemade to order and had them ordered the pork and black pudding burger and macaroni. All exceptional quality and home made. Compliments to the chef. Will definitely stay again when in the area. Thank you.

Average room but great food

The family room we had was nicely furnished but had some things letting it down. The floor had not been cleaned properly. Limited sockets meant the kettle had to be boiled on the floor. The TV was tiny relative to the room (15 inch). The bathroom was very tired and had not been renovated in many years. The toilet lid was so worn the wood was showing through, the cleaning had started but not finished in the bath and balancing the hot water v. cold to avoid a freezing shower was a challenge. The food in the restaurant was really good both at night and at breakfast, really good value too.

It was a very nice stay. They were super busy due to a local festival but they were friendly and very helpful. It is an older building so pack light as there are lots of stairs but we did enjoy our stay and the dogs was very good.

Warm, Welcoming and Clean

Every where in the hotel was very clean and well presented, the dining room was spacious and comfortable, breakfasts were amazing. The bar was also good and although we didn't eat the food looked good. The hotel and bar are very dog friendly. Everyone was warm and welcoming, we really enjoyed our stay. If in the area we would definitely stay here again
