"The rooms was spotless, its a very old building but modern and decorated beautifully, the bathroom was so clean and the shower was nice and powerful. The man was really friendly and the building its self is just amazing, all 5 of us (3 kids ) were impressed. The beds are the comfiest weve ever slept on. 100% would recommend this place . "A rather old fashioned and somewhat dowdy hotel. Our room was somewhat antique, but clean with a modern bathroom. There were large windows and a glass door from outside into the room. We had to try several windows to find one that was open. There were large floor to ceiling curtains that were difficult to draw and did not properly cut out the outside light. There were few amenities provided in the room, limited toiletries, no bottled water, etc. There is a car park but we only managed to squeeze in using the electric charger space which was broken as there was limited space. Overall it was OK but gave the impression of being somewhat uncared for."

"Absolutely wonderful property. Great vibe that makes you feel like you’re going back in time. Dinner in the restaurant was fantastic, if you don’t mind a few canine guests as well. Our top floor room looked over the river and was very peaceful and quiet. Comfortable big room very clean with an excellent staff. The Abbey ruins are just a few yards away right across the parking lot. Just love this place and hope to get to return someday."

"This hotel is in an amazing location and the views are stunning. The food, staff, grounds and pool etc were what definitely what makes this hotel a 4 star. The room however was rough round the edges with threadbare carpet, holes on the armchairs, bed base pretty rough and the TV unable to get basic channels. The bathroom was beautiful and the room was really clean. It just needs investment but it is huge! "

"We’ve just had a wonderful stay with our two dogs. From the initial booking to follow up messages everything was handled well. On arriving late we were met by the restaurant manager and shown to our room which was very nice. Needs a little bit of maintenance on the old windows so that they all be open but otherwise all was good. Breakfast was excellent and served in the bar so our dogs could be with us. Similarly we had evening dinner in the garden room. The grounds are lovely with lots of walks for the dogs. Thank you for a lovely stay and a special thank you to Hubert for his hospitality"

"Stayed here for one night before a running event in Selkirk the next day. The staff were really friendly and advised on parking when I arrived. My room was clean and comfortable. I hadn’t booked a table to eat but they squeezed me in at the bar. My burger was delicious. They also had a great selection of local beers."
