Whitehall
10/10 Excellent
"The room we were in was cozy and small but nice. It had a sitting room off of the bathroom which could accommodate our luggage. The bathroom was a little small, but expected for a house of this age. The property was just lovely and the staff were very friendly."
Island View Inn

"The room was huge and had a gorgeous sitting area with amazing beach views!!! The pool area was spacious with plenty of seating and well landscaped. We enjoyed walking the ocean path too. Close to great restaurants like Ports of Italy. Plenty of shops as well as Mt Battie and some lighthouses."

250 Main Hotel
10/10 Excellent
"Conveniently located with a beautiful view of the harbor. While Rockland is a "working harbor" we found the noise machine in the room adequate for great sleep. The hotel is within walking distance of all the shops and galleries (although we didn't visit any galleries). Three of our four dinners were in town, all within a 5 minute drive. The staff was very helpful in helping me set up a rooftop telescope one one of the clear nights so I could image the Andromeda galaxy. The desk attendant offered to print a sign that stated that I was imaging to avoid disturbing the setup and even brought tape so I could hang the sign! On several occasions they offered to fill our thermoses with ice. The fresh water in the lobby was welcome and always available. The breakfast was nice, but if you are gluten-free as we are you should consider other options - even the oatmeal, although gluten-free, was instant and in a box, loaded with sugar. However, the blueberries and pineapple every morning were a nice offering. Overall, a great vacation, our 15th trip to Maine in 17 years, and our 4th stay in Midcoast Maine. We would consider this property again without hesitation."
The Craignair Inn & Restaurant
10/10 Excellent
"The owners were very present and engaged with the guests. The inn is well-run and well looked after. The property has a beautiful location right by a Causeway to Clark Island. Our room was not spacious but nicely decorated and functional. Only downside was that it's an old building and the less-than-considerate guests above us were VERY heavy footed at all times of day and night. Not the inn's fault, of course! Also when I booked I wasn't aware that the included breakfast is vegetarian only. There are no meat options apart from at Sunday brunch. Just FYI!"
