The Château de la Ferté-Saint-Aubin is an elegant mansion with moats and a river. The château cook puts on a live demonstration in the historical kitchens. Try honey madeleines on weekend afternoons. The site is family friendly, with miniature golf courses and various other games. Play on the life-size version of Snakes and Ladders. Many large games for children and adults are scattered around the park, evoking scenes from Alice in Wonderland.

A small castle already existed at this site in the 11th century, before growing into its current stature after numerous renovations and expansions. The mansion passed through the hands of many noble figures, such as Henri II de la Ferté Sennectère, Woldemar Count of Lowendal and the son of Napoleon Bonaparte. Try to identify separate elements of architecture.

Visit the mansion from morning until late afternoon through most of the year. It is closed in December and January except for a few special weekends. Adults pay a low fee and kids and groups get discounts.

The Château de la Ferté-Saint-Aubin is on the Cosson River in the heart of the village from which it takes its name. Nearby are a church and a campsite. Use the free parking lot which provides ample spaces for the château.
