Hotels near Big Chapman Lake

"We attended a concert in nearby Shipshewana IN, and looked for a more budget friendly hotel than those offered in Shipshewana. Reviews indicated this Best Western was a good choice - and it was! The room was clean and quiet, the staff was friendly, and the Continental breakfast was good (4 kinds of dry cereal, a waffle maker, instant oatmeal, fresh fruit, and 2 kinds of bottled juice). At $40 cheaper than the Shipshewana hotels, it was a no brainer. We'll stay here again!"

"Everything was great with the exception of food and drink options. Drove 35 min away and had good dinner and drinks. Kind of my fault because I checked in on a Sunday. So the resturaunt and bar were closed at 4p on Sunday and all day Monday. Was a little dissapointed that I wasnt provided with info about breakfast at check in. I wouldve paid $10 and ordered, if I knew about it prior to 10am. Also. Booked a lake view room. It was partial view. Wouldve been nice to have full view being its off season. Nonetheless. Beautiful property. Friendly staff. Plan to stay again when its warm outside. "

"The room was not clean. We had to get our rooms moved to another one because the blankets, toilet, Jacuzzi, and floor was not clean. Moved to next room and had to go buy bleach to do my own cleaning because I could not get a refund. Jacuzzi was broken. Door had been kicked in. Very limited breakfast. Go somewhere else."

"It was a rocky start. We checked in pretty late and the hotel manager was having a hard time figuring out the payment issues Hotels.com was having with their hotel. Apparently, they couldnt process the payment so we were almost charged again for the room. She did recover and just gave us the keys and told us theyd figure it out later. The room was nice but the mattress was very uncomfortable. It also squeaked on any movement. We ask to have it replaced or a bed topper put on to no avail. Shower was great. Just hard to sleep."

"Loved the breakfast menu & the coffee was great! The room was clean & comfortable. The staff was very nice & accommodating. Will return to this Hampton Inn over all other hotels in the area."

"The hotel was completely run down. The whole building smelled of mildew. The room was "clean" but everything was gross I'm the building. Clear water damage throughout the entire facility. Mold and mildew openly on the walls. There was a full hole in the window frame to the outside. The air conditioning unit was literally duct taped together."

"The staff was friendly and room was clean and bed comfortable. But facility is old and in need of renovation. Lots of little signs of damage. Small things like knobs missing from cabinets and cracked hinge on toilet seat. "

"Everything was exceptionally clean. Parking was convenient. TV was limited to a few over the air channels. In room coffeemaker did not work. Breakfast choices limited, but ok. Breakfast area was served by a single Keurig which was not working well and created wait time. Pancakes were cold by the time my coffee brewed. Staff were all very friendly. I hate to point these things out and only do so in hope that it will help them get it together because otherwise this is a really clean and well-maintained property."
