"Let me start off by saying it takes a LOT for me to write a bad review. The photos of this hotel are VERY deceiving. It is right by a huge casino which has lots of random people all around the surrounding area. It did not feel safe. There was even a mobile camera unit from a police department in the parking lot. Once we got inside the hotel, it felt safer since there was an armed guard on duty throughout the night. Our room smelled like dirty feet as soon as we walked in. We discovered that it was the carpet that smelled so bad. We also had a bullet hole in our window on the 5th floor! It might have been from a pellet gun but I have photos. The bed was surprisingly comfortable despite the mattress pad under the sheet being a size too small so it was just on top of the mattress instead of fitted around the corners. The breakfast was less than appealing. We are not super picky with hotel breakfasts. Give us some scrambled eggs & a waffle or fruit & we're good. They had biscuits & gravy but were out of biscuits. They only had hard boiled eggs & yogurt- not a fruit in site. Overall, we were super disappointed in just about everything with this stay."

"This was a horrible hotel, there are doors connecting the rooms and you can hear EVERYTHING through the door. I could hear the whole conversation from next door like they were in my room, I heard their alarm clock as if it was in my room. Would not recommend this hotel at all, there is $150 deposit not you aren't told about until you are there."

"There was an event Sunday night which was incredibly loud and lasted until almost midnight, making it impossible to relax/sleep. After it was over, there was an hour or so worth of noise from everyone getting in their cars and leaving. The television in the room didn’t work and when we asked about getting it fixed, we were told maintenance would come but they never did. The shower was barely big enough for a child. Also it was difficult to communicate with staff because most of them did not speak English."

"I had an overall pleasant stay at the Gateway Inn in Ashford, Washington. One of the biggest advantages of this property is its location—being right near the entrance to Mount Rainier National Park makes it incredibly convenient for anyone planning to explore the area. The surrounding scenery is beautiful and really adds to the experience. The staff was also very friendly and welcoming throughout our stay. There were a few drawbacks, however. The room we stayed in had a noticeable slant to the floor, which was a little unusual and took some getting used to. The internet service was also spotty at times, although the hotel does disclose this ahead of time, so it wasn't entirely unexpected given the location. Additionally, there were no TV channels available during our stay, which may be disappointing for guests looking to relax indoors after a day of exploring. That said, if your main goal is to enjoy the natural beauty of Mount Rainier and stay close to the park entrance, Gateway Inn is a convenient option with friendly service and a great setting. Just be prepared for a few rustic quirks that come with staying in such a remote and scenic area."
