"What a great experience overall! My partner and I spent a week in the hotel, and it was wonderful. The staff were all super friendly and attentive, and the owner, Thomas, circulated throughout the property, greeting and chatting with regulars and newbies like us alike and making us feel right at home. The building, property, and rooms are beautiful! It's a historic building with beautiful dark wood and tile work. The rooms are bright and comfortable, the shower was huge, and the water gets HOT! The included breakfast was delicious, and I already miss the gallo pinto!! There's a pool with a jacuzzi (which we used almost nightly) and a gym (we didn't use it, but it is well appointed with a variety of exercise options). The location is great, too - right on the border of Barrio Amon and the city center, and just a few minutes walk to the Atlantic train station, with connections to Cartago and Heredia. Highly, highly recommended. We will definitely stay here again on our next trip to San José! Thanks for everything!"

"Completely dirty room! Stains bed sheets and yellow. Room stick humidity and sewer. Very noisy. You can hear everything in that cave. Bathroom as dirty as possible. The hotel old nothing to do with the pictures Expedia has. Is a vey old smelly horrible hotel in a very dangerous zone. I have to booked another hotel asap "

"The room is always clean. The Hotel has an excellent service staff. On my last trip, there was a problem with the water heater and sometimes showers were cold. I’m sure this was resolved soon after I left. This is the hotel. I’ve stayed at many times and will continue to stay there."
