"Overall, it was a wonderful place to stay. Sitting around the mezzanine, looking at the beautiful lodge and admiring how it was built, listening to the piano while having a drink in the evening was a relaxing experience!
The beds were comfortable and everything was clean. Of course everything is older, but it was still a good experience.
Only two potentially negative things in my opinion. And they may not be everyone’s opinion so I’m not going to take a star off for them.
First, the scarcity of places to eat. We weren’t there on especially busy weekend. We were there early in May and the roads were barely open. However, all of the restaurants were so full that we ended up just having a burger for dinner, which was disappointing. If you’re going to have a hotel that can hold this many guests, at these prices, better dining options are needed.
I don’t understand the lack of Wi-Fi. We were warned about it, and thought we would be OK without it, but it was stressful. We couldn’t plan our drive home the next day and know how many hours it would take, or communicate with the people watching our house and dogs to make sure everything was OK. I like the idea of returning to a simpler time while in the park, but it’s a little ridiculous to not even have Wi-Fi in the lobby."
"We were on the third floor and there is no elevator. We had to carry our luggage up three flights of stairs which was difficult because we are older. We won’t be staying there again."
