What better place to start your tour than the picturesque Casa de las Flores, which exudes charm both inside and out? In fact, this building, which dates back to 1862, is home to a museum dedicated to tin toys.
Another monument that is well worth a trip is the parish of Nuestra Señora de la Asunción, officially declared a Site of Cultural Interest. This archaic, Gothic-style church might not seem all that special from the outside, but inside you’ll find some very interesting pieces. These include a ceramic altarpiece by the artist that also created part of the tiles of El Escorial.

Bathe in the pristine meltwater from the Sierra de Gredos mountains before it runs into the River Tiétar. In the river you can also enjoy water sports, such as canoeing.
The micro climate of the area is perfect for growing Candeleda paprika, which you’ll find in all the typical dishes in the local restaurants: Rioja-style potatoes, patatas bravas, chorizo, etc. And, for dessert, really go crazy: try the yemas de Santa Teresa, the most typical dessert in Ávila based on egg yolks and sugar.
