"Hamtramck Hostel despite the lower stars was a pretty good experience. It was a little further from downtown than I wanted it to be so you had to drive a bit to see the city. The surrounding area was much like the rest of Detroit; eclectic in some places, and rundown in others. I feel the vibe was good at the Hostel itself. There were some very kind hearted people. I liked some of the conversations we had. I enjoyed the idea of the shared space. I liked having access to the kitchen and laundry...

"The entire house was slanted, making it difficult to walk up the stairs, which were already fairly steep. One friend left with unspecified bug bites on her leg, several of us had reddish and brown stains on our mattresses, and one persons was flipped over to hide said stains. Floor came up a bit in the kitchen on our first night there and a friend got a scratch on her foot from it. Trash was also not taken out when we arrived. Decorations were nice, and towels, sheets and dishes were included, but there were also dishes left over in the dishwasher upon arrival. The basement light always seemed to be on as well from the view of the kitchen vent, though the area is off limits to visitors."
"Our stay was wonderful! The property and home was peaceful, clean, and thoughtfully stocked with essentials like towels, shampoo, conditioner, and a blow dryer. We especially enjoyed the cool, refreshing mornings and the comforting sound of the creaking floors gave it a cozy touch. The home is spacious enough to accommodate our larger family of eight, though there were only four of us on this trip. While the house could benefit from some updates, we truly appreciated its charm and comfort throughout our stay. Highly recommend! Thank you for a lovely stay! "

"They cancelled my stay abruptly 2 days prior to my arrival. I emailed them and never heard anything back. Called them and was placed on hold for an hour. I’m sure they double booked but it was really unfortunate to have to deal with the consequences of their mistake."
