"The Tropical Resort is "old time Florida" the way resorts used to be 40-50 years ago. While the rooms are older, they are well maintained and modernized. Each room faces a huge green space with a fire pit (and central fire pit for night bonfires) and outdoor barbeque grills and an outdoor table and chairs outside each room overlooking the central green space. Pet friendly. The staff (owner and his wife) are lovely people who clearly love the property, the area, and their resort. Swimming pool and lakefront marina (on Beresford Lake) near Deland, Florida, where you can rent pontoon boats and other boats for liesurely cruises on the lake. Sometimes wildlife wanders by, but nothing dangerous - herons, cranes, birds, racoons, and such. Quiet, restful, and out of the way, but near downtown Deland which is a charming, quiet community with a quaint downtown with lots of neat restaurants and small shops. And Stetson University campus is beautiful and well maintained. The Tropical Resort also hosts the Florida Highwaymen painters art displays on Saturdays and Sundays where you can score some really beautiful original oil paintings, mostly of Florida coastal seascapes and ocean vistas. We always stay there when we come to Deland to visit our granson, and will keep coming back since we are a part of the old Florida and every stay there brings back wonderful memories of the way Florida used to be before all the people ruined it. A happy and satisfied couple from Pensacola."
